Send Money Transaction

The following instructions apply to Send Money transactions.

To complete the Send Money Transaction:

  1. Have the customer fill out the appropriate form.
  1. From the Main Menu, click the Send Money (F5) button or press the F5 key.
    The Express Services Screen dialog box appears.

  1. Choose the type of search and enter the information. Press Enter or Click the Search Button to get the results.

Note: If the customer does not have an account number and does not want to enroll, select Cancel (Esc).  For enrollment with or without a transaction, please see the instructions for Western Union Card Enrollment.

  1. From the Send Money Menu, click the Money Transfer (F5) button or press the F5 key.
    The 1. Country tab appears with a list of countries to select from.  The list is sorted by the top five countries for the Agent location (example below), followed by an alphabetical listing of the remainder of all the countries.  The top five countries are separated from the remaining alphabetical listing of countries with a bold line.

  1. Select the country and click on the Next (Enter) button or press the Enter key.

Note: To move through the list, use the PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN arrows, scroll bar, or type the first letter of the country in the Country text box to go directly to the country names beginning with that letter.

  1. The 2. Transaction Details tab appears.

The following table describes each field in the 2. Transaction Details tab.

Field

Description

Financial Information

Amount being sent and type of currency.

Using the information from the green “To send money” form, complete the following fields.

Send Amount -Type the dollar amount (maximum 10 numeric characters).

Send Currency – Currency selection list.  Click the down arrow for a list of currencies.

F6 – Currency Conv. – Currency conversion.  Click for a conversion from US dollars to currency of receiver location.

If any invalid characters are typed in the Send Amount field, a message appears advising you an invalid amount has been entered into the Send Amount field.  Please check the amount and re-enter.

The following applies to International only.

Receive Amount – After clicking the Currency Conv – F6 button, the amount in the currency of the receiver location appears (maximum 10 alphanumeric characters).

When blank, after Send Amount is entered, attempts to add Receive Amount will display the following message.

Financial Information

  • Click the Yes button to clear the Send Amount.

  • Click the No button to clear the Receive Amount.

Receive Currency – Currency type for the receive country.

  • Advisory – Default unless the selected country allows fixed transactions only. The payout amount is equivalent to what the currency is worth on the date of payout.

  • Fixed –  The fixed payout amount does not fluctuate.  The receiver receives the amount shown.

  • If selected country allows Fixed only, the Fixed option button is selected and the Advisory button is grayed out.

  • If a Receive Amount is entered, the Fixed option button is automatically selected.

If any invalid characters are typed in the Receive Amount field, a message appears advising you an invalid amount has been entered into the Receive Amount field.  Please check the amount and re-enter.

Expected Payout Location

City

City information for the selected country.

State

State information for the selected country.

Receiver (Alt-R)

Receiver information.

  • First / Last (default) – then type first and last name of person (maximum 39 alphanumeric characters)

  • Business – then type name of company and attention (maximum 39 alphanumeric characters each)

  • Paternal / Maternal – then type first, paternal, and maternal names (maximum 39 alphanumeric characters each)

Sender related information.

  • First / Last (default) – then type first and last name of person (maximum 39 alphanumeric characters)

  • Business – then type name of company and attention (maximum 39 alphanumeric characters each)

  • Paternal / Maternal – then type first, paternal, and maternal names (maximum 39 alphanumeric characters each)

Financial Summary

Information related to the amount being sent.  These fields are filled in automatically and are not editable.

When a service is selected or information is entered in the Services/Info tab, an indicator displays in the group box identifying a particular service has been selected (e.g. If a test question was entered, Test Question included displays in the Services/Info group box).

Note: Depending on what is configured in the Agent Configuration utility, some services may not be enabled.

When a service is selected or information is entered, an indicator displays in the group box identifying a particular service has been selected (e.g. a Test Question was entered, Test Question included displays in the Additional Services group.

Once above information is added, the financial summary is adjusted.

Type the information in the 2. Transaction Details tab of the Send Money screen.

  1. Refer to the Collect Amount field on the right-hand side of the screen.  This is the total amount the consumer owes, including any fees.

  2. Collect the funds from the consumer and place the money collected in a secure area.
  3. Select one of the following:

Select:

  • Cancel this transaction and return to the Main Menu.  Select OK (Enter).

  • Change to another Western Union Product. From the drop-down list, select the product. Select OK (Enter). The dialog box for the specific product appears.

Note: Depending on the amount of the transaction the compliance information will have to be entered. With GEN III, the operator will enter the ID number and ID Type of the sender in the compliance template and let the system retrieve for the ID, based on the number, type and the name of the sender/receiver entered in the Money Transfer screen. If the ID is already in the system and passes validation the rest of the compliance template will be populated, if not, the information will have to be manually entered.

  1. Depending on what is configured in the Agent Configuration Utility, the following appears:

Click the Yes button to submit the transaction or the No button to cancel.

 

  1. Depending on your configuration, a dialog box will automatically appear with a fraud warning.

Click the OK (Enter) button to submit or the Cancel (Esc) button to cancel.

  1. Select OK (Enter).
    The automated receipt prints and the 3. Finish tab appears.

Note: If the receipt does not print, complete the gray-shaded section of the Agent Send Money form.  For instructions, click Agent Send Money Form Instructions.

  1. At this point you can either click the Done (Enter) button to return to the Main Menu or select the the Transaction Summary (Alt+N) to review the information of the transaction created.
  2. If the Transaction Summary was selected a screen with all the information like the one below will be displayed
  1. This screen will have 3 different tabs:
  • Financial Summary: Display the send amount, charges, currency, total tax, collected amount, services charges and delivery charge.

  • Service Charges: Display any additional services used.

  • Discount tab: Display the discounts applied if host based discount or a promotion code was used while sending this transaction.

  1.  After all the information has been reviewed you can press the OK and Done buttons to go back to the Main Menu screen.
