Mexico Western Union Money Transfer®

To complete a Mexico Western Union Money Transfer transaction

  1. From the Main Menu, click on the Send Money (F5) button or press the F5 key.

The Express Services Screen dialog box will appear.

  1. From the Express Services Screen dialog box, swipe or type the consumer’s Preferred Customer Card or Western Union Gold Card or type his/her Card or telephone number and then click the Search (Enter) button or press the Enter key.  Press the Esc key if no Card or number is provided.

The Send Money Menu appears.

  1. From the Send Money Menu, click on the Money Transfer (F5) button or press the F5 key. The Send Money screen 1. Country tab appears.

  2. Use your mouse to click on Mexico, type the first few letters of the “Mexico” in the Country field or use the Up/Down arrows to scroll through the Country selection list. Highlight the Mexico from the list.
    The country information displays below the Country list.

  1. Click the Next (Enter) button.
    The 2. Transaction Details tab appears.

The following table describes each field on the 2. Transaction Details tab.

Field

Description

Financial Information

Amount being sent and type of currency.

Send Amount – Dollar amount (maximum 10 numeric characters).

F6 – Currency Conv. – Currency conversion.  Select for a conversion from US dollars to currency of receiver location.

The Exchange Rate Information dialog box displays different delivery services available.

Destination Amount – If you attempt to enter information here, a message will appear, advising that entering an amount in the Destination Amount field will clear the Send Amount, and whether or not you want to clear the Send Amount.

  • Click the Yes button to clear the Send amount and enter a Receive amount.

  • Click the No button to clear the Destination amount.

Advisory – This option is not enabled for money transfers to Mexico.

Fixed – the fixed payout amount does not fluctuate.  The receiver receives the amount shown.

  • If selected country allows Fixed only, the Fixed option button is selected and the Advisory button is grayed out.

  • If a Destination Amount is entered, the Fixed option button is automatically selected.

If any invalid characters are typed in the Receive Amount field, a message appears, advising you an invalid amount has been entered into the Receive Amount field.  Please check the amount and re-enter.

Expected Payout Location

City/State

City information for the selected country. Any city with multiple states, is listed as City-State.

A City drop-down list appears when selecting a state from the list of states.  Select the city.

Service

Alphabetical listing of all available delivery services applicable to the selected city and state.

  • DINERO EN MINUTOS® (Money in Minutes)

Dinero en Minutos is a Western Union Money Transfer service to Mexico allowing consumers to send money to Mexico in minutes, depending on the hours of operation of the payout Agent location.

  • DINERO DIA SIGUIENTESM (Next Day Service)

The money can usually be picked up in Mexico 24 hours later through any part of the Western Union Agent network in Mexico.

  • WESTERN UNION GIRO TELEGRAFICO®

This is a next day will-call service, which is currently available for the same price as our “Dinero Dia Siguiente” fee.

A separate version with home notification is currently available for an additional charge.

Notes:  Type a city name in the Search City field (use the up and down arrow keys to scroll through the list).  Alt-I will put the city list in alphabetical order, and Alt-T will put the state list in alphabetical order.  Press the Enter key to select a location.

Depending on the Expected Payout Location and Service, additional information might be requested.  Fill in the additional information to continue.

If changes are made in the Expected Payout Location field, the Service Select box is cleared.  If you do not select another service, you receive a message advising you a change has been detected in the Expected Payout location, please choose a service for the city/state selected.

Receiver (Alt-R)

Receiver information.

  • First / Last – (maximum 39 alphanumeric characters)

  • Business – maximum 39 alphanumeric characters each)

  • Paternal / Maternal – (default) Select to type first, paternal, and maternal names (maximum 39 alphanumeric characters each)

Sender (Alt-S)

Sender related information.  If a Western Union Gold Card or Preferred Customer Card number was entered, this information is automatically filled in.

  • First / Last – (maximum 39 alphanumeric characters)

  • Business – (maximum 39 alphanumeric characters each)

  • Paternal / Maternal – (default) (Select to display first name, paternal, maternal)(maximum 39 alphanumeric characters each)

Financial Summary

Information related to the amount being sent.  Information is filled in automatically and is not editable.

Additional Services (Alt-D)

Note: Depending on what is configured in the Agent Configuration utility, some services may not be enabled.

These are the Additional Services available:

When a service is selected or information is entered, an indicator displays in the group box identifying a particular service has been selected (e.g. a Test Question was entered, Test Question included displays in the Additional Services group.

Once above information is added, the financial summary is adjusted.

  1. Type the information in the 2. Transaction Details tab.

  2. Select one of the following:

When selected, a confirmation message dialog box appears: Cancel this transaction?
Select:

  • Cancel this transaction and return to the Main Menu.  Click on the OK (Enter) button.

  • Change to another Western Union Product. From the drop-down list, select the product. Click on the OK (Enter) button. The dialog box for the specific product appears.

Verify + Warn Send Money collect support dialog box appears with the following message at the top:

IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT! DID YOU COLLECT FOR THIS TRANSACTION! IF NOT, DON’T SEND IT.

Under total collect amount, the message reads:

Have you collected this amount?

After collecting the amount, click on the OK (Enter) button.

If using:

Non-negotiable paper, the 3. Finish tab appears.  Go to step 13.

Negotiable paper, the Collect Amount dialog box appears.  Go to step 8.

Manual Send Money collect support dialog box appears with the following message:

Enter the total amount collected

After collecting the amount, manually type the amount in the blank field, then click on the OK (Enter) button.

If using:

Non-negotiable paper, the 3. Finish tab appears.  Go to step 13.

Negotiable paper, the Collect Amount dialog box appears.  Go to step 8.

Manual + Warn Send Money collect support dialog box appears with the following message at the top:

IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT! DID YOU COLLECT FOR THIS TRANSACTION! IF NOT, DON’T SEND IT.

Under total collect amount, the message reads:

Enter the total amount collected.

After collecting the amount, manually type the amount in the blank field, then select OK (Enter).

If using:

Non-negotiable paper, the 3. Finish tab appears.  Go to step 13.

Negotiable paper, the Collect Amount dialog box appears.  Go to step 8.

  1. A dialog box will automatically appear with a fraud warning.  Review the fraud warning and then type the amount collected in the Enter the total amount collected field.

  1. Click the OK (Enter) button to submit or the Cancel (Esc) button to cancel.

  1. The Print Instructions dialog box appears with directions for printing the receipt.

  1. Follow the instructions in the Print Instructions dialog box to print the transaction receipt.
  2. Select OK (Enter).
    The automated receipt prints and the 3. Finish tab appears.

Note: If the receipt does not print, complete the gray-shaded section of the multi-colored “Send money to Mexico”  form.  For instructions, click Agent Send Money Form Instructions.

Send money to Mexico

  1. Follow the instructions on the 3. Finish tab, then click the Done (Enter) button to return to the Main Menu.
    The Main Menu appears.
